The trail which leads up to Silver Cascade Falls is popular with families and is moderatly easy climb for children and pets. The trail starts where North Cheyenne Creek tumbles down into North Cheyenne Canyon Park. Proceed to the Helen Hunt Falls overlook bridge and then continue on for another 1/4 mile to view the Silver Cascade Falls.
Wide, timber-supported steps and wooden handrails keep this sometimes steep trail from feeling too strenuous. Towering evergreens, the closeness of the surrounding granite, paths that curl along the mountainside, and the steady splash of water give this short mountain walk an appeal to anyone who likes the great outdoors and enjoys seeing the natural wonders that Mother Nature has provided.
While walking the well groomed trail you are provided an outstanding view of the falls as they stream over the large granite slip. The abundant stands of evergreens block a complete view of the falls, but all sections of the 200 foot slide can be seen in various sections between the trees. There are some interesting spouts that jump several feet above the flow because of some uprises on the slip face. The start of the falls can be seen from a walled Overlook at the top of the falls.
Access during the Colorado winter can become limited as the road leading up to the visitor center at Helen Hunt Falls is closed when road hazards warrent it.
