USAFA Cadet Chapel, Contributing to NRHP District, Colorado Springs - NRHP Historic Districts - Contributing Buildings on Waymarking.com

The Chapel, completed in 1963, is the focal point of the Cadet Area with its triangular row of seventeen spires set against the backdrop of the peaks of the Rocky Mountains. Its architecture has made it an icon representing the entire Academy. The structure is a tubular steel frame of 100 identical tetrahedrons. The tetrahedrons are spaced a foot apart, creating gaps in the framework that are filled with one-inch thick colored glass.
