The Empire style fountain from 1812 is a part of the garden surrounding wall which belongs to the Clam-Gallas palace in the Mariánské Square. The beautiful and sitting maiden statue impersonates Vltava (Moldau) river holds in hands two mugs and from one of them is water flowing. Mugs represent two sources of Vltava river and moreover one of them (with five stars) is a symbol of Czech Catholic martyr St. John of Nemomuk, who was drown in Vltava.
This statue, work of sculptor Václav Práchner, was called by local people "Terezka"... In the 1953 the sandstone statue was damaged so badly that here is a copy on the statue now. The restored original is in the Lapidary of the National Gallery.
