Commemorative gates and memorial arches have a long tradition in Chinese architecture. Main entrances to walled cities, palaces or temples are often demarcated with inscribed gates. This arch is only couple years old, built during renovation of the Longxing Monastery's garden, but by the style, material and carvings corresponds to similar traditional old memorial arches which you can see in whole China in temple areas...
