Located in the southwestern part of Moody County, South Dakota, on SD Highway 34, Colman has a population of 545 as of July 2007, a 5% decrease from the 2000 census.
Ancestries include German, Norwegian, Irish, and Danish peoples.
The Busy City of Colman is located just 2.5 miles west of Interstate 29 at Exit 109 and centrally located between the cities of Madison, Brookings, Sioux Falls (the largest city in the state), and Pipestone, MN.
Looney Days is the Annual Celebration (the second weekend of August) and is sponsored by local Jaycees. Activities include: Miss Colman Pageant, Pie Bake Off, Main St Parade, Pork Loin Feed, Library Book Fair, Bingo, Kids Carnival, Kids Tractor Pull, Kids Street Games, and
Swimming.
