First mention of St. James is from 1277. But in 1631 swedesh troops burnt out the church and till 1662 was church deserted. In this year started reconstruction and during 1662-1663 was also built up a tower. In 1794 much of Hostivice was destroyed by fire and church burnt out again. As late as 1857 was tower repaired and rebuilt into today's shape. Town clock was several times repaired and replaced (1870, 30's, after WWII...), present clock is from 1975.
