Fort Bridger is now a Wyoming State Park. It has an impressive history, from the days of the Mountain Men, the Mormons and the Military that guarded the Oregon Trail. Established by Jim Bridger in 1843, it endured because of its strategic location as a defensive outpost until 1890. It was dedicated as a Wyoming Historical Landmark and Museum in 1933.
There are 34 restored original buildings and 18 identified former structures at the fort. It is only a few miles away from Interstate 80 in western Wyoming and well worth a visit.
