Modrany have been an agricultural village for a long time. The sugar refinery, which belongs to the oldest in Europe, was the first industrial factory here. The permission for sugar production was granted in 31. 10. 1861.

History of this complex ended in 2005, buildings were demolished and only construction which remained was this chimney.
