The Corn Exchange which resides round the corner operates this theatre and it houses many events, exhibitions and performances. The Swan Theatre Company, Bedford Dramatic Club (BDC), Bedford Marianettes and ShowCo Bedford perform plays and musicals here. Each Christmas The Bedford Pantomime Company produces a traditional pantomime. Also the annual Bedfringe festival which is a pre-Edinburgh Fringe festival, is based mainly from the Civic Theatre.
