The Wapack Trail crosses West Road at Temple Road, then follows Temple Road (look for blazes on the telephone poles!) about 1/2 mile, until the intersection of Greenleaf Road. At that point, as the trail heads back into the woods, we find this small parking lot and info kiosk. Several signs serve to orient us, with distance ticks, a dedication to the sponsor of this segment, and one barely visible tin plate on a hemlock, which describes this as "Avelinda Forest", and lists restrictions on usage. Uphill from the trailhead are several scenic overlooks.
