When the Oswichee Baptist Church was first constructed, it was lit by kerosene lanterns and the church's only building was the main sanctuary. They didn’t have Sunday School rooms at that time but instead had one wire running the length of the sanctuary and another running the width, and they draped curtains over the wire to divide the space into four Sunday School rooms. Later, a Sunday School wing was added, as well as a baptismal pool installed and windows.
