Otter Brook Dam has twice prevented major destruction during flood events - in April, 1969 and June, 1984. The flood levels and dates are clearly marked at 82 and 88 feet, on the main water level indicator on the tower of the dam. Standing at the base of the dam, and looking at the valley surrounding the lake makes it obvious, there was a tremendous amount of water here!
