Perhaps the earliest "Black Cemetery" for the town of Mount Dora, Florida. It is believed that African-American citrus workers for the early Simpson family settlers are buried there. The last burial probably occurred during the 1960's and no activity of any kind has been documented since then. In time tombstones and other grave markers perished either from vandalism or nature, and today very few are surviving and still standing. Very few people know about the existence of this location and some mild maintenance has been provided by the local church group. But nature is more powerful than human will, and the remaining structures are almost totally absorbed by the thick vegetation there. It is believed that place is haunted as it is no longer considered a consecrated ground, and the absence of ways to identify the resting bodies there has unsettled the tranquility of the place. Several paranormal investigators have documented evidence of spiritual activity. Today the cemetery awaits for a generous effort to restore it and with it the peace of its residents.
