The Bear Rock Climbing centre is the Midlands no.1 climbing facility. We have 40 leading and top rope lines, ranging from easy angled slabs to our 13.5m high, 5m overhanging competition wall, with routes ranging from grade 3 through to 8a. In addition to this we have a dedicated bouldering room with a campus board and problems set from V0 through to V11. So whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned pro we have something for you.
First opened in 1995 the Bear Rock Climbing Centre has expanded over the years and now hosts a wide variety of climbing surfaces in our main climbing room as well as a dedicated bouldering room. All of our facilities have been built by Bendcrete. The facilities are open to the General public as well as members of the university. The centre has been a host for the British Indoor Climbing Championships and is still a regular host for the British Youth Indoor Climbing Championships as well as a number of student competitions.
