Church was in fine condition, still used. The grounds and cemetery were also well kept. State historical marker in front of church states a good history. Church was about a mile to the north of town off Hwy. 71 on Bayou Rd.
State MArker reads:
Gothic Revival church built of handmade brick in 1860 and designed with seperate gallery for slaves. Consecrated by Bishop Leonidas Polk in 1861. Original congregation included several prominent planters of the surrounding area.
