Shiloh College dates back to 1836 when the trustees met the first time and the first building was built which was a one story building of hewn timbers.  This first building was used until 1856 when a second building was built.

The present building was constructed beginning in March 1881.  The building was constructed by William F. Brinkman and Brothers.  The building was constructed of bricks fired on site.  The school house was district leased and used by the local school district beginning in 1896 and was known as District #1 Schoolhouse-Randolph County.  The school used the building until 1954 when school district consolidation occurred and school closed.  At that time control of the building revert back to the Shiloh College trustees.  The building served as a community center and hosted many of the community events over the years.  In 1998 the Randolph County Historical Society assumed ownership of the building and as of April 2004 it is being maintained, restored and restored by Shiloh College Foundation.

The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.
