From the beach you can expet to catch Sea Trout, Sand Sharks, Snapper, AmberJack and perhaps even an occasional Snook if the tide is right. Wade fishing is popular and you don't have to have a boat to get here! This waymark is for the beach fishermen. Swimming is not allowed on the Southern end of the island due to rip currents, but the best fishing is found here. About a mile North is the beach area where the currents are less treacherous and the kiddies can play in the water. There are also 2 lighthouses and a museum located here. A great fun-filled day for the whole family!

If you prefer an offshore experience there are plenty of guides in the area to take you out, unless you bring your own. Boca Grande Pass is known the world over as a Hot Tarpon Fishing location! Bid Red's and Snook are frequently caught here. Hammerhead sharks are also found in the pass. A Port Charlotte, Florida man named Bucky Dennis caught a new world record 1,280 pound hammerhead shark on May 23, 2006.
UPDATE 05/06/2009: BUCKY DENNIS DOES IT AGAIN! (visit link)
