Established in 1786, it is the second oldest fire department in the state of Tennessee. Rogersville is in the seat of Hawkins County, which is located in the Eastern tip of the state. The fire department covers an area of approximately six square miles, serving a population of around 4,300. Our primary duties include responding to structure fires, rescue operations, motor vehicle accident response, hazardous material response, and backup responder to other volunteer departments. We will even go "rescue a cat from a tree" if we were called to!! We sponsor an annual donation drive for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, which we have participated in since August 1980. We are very proud of the firefighters who serve on this department. There are a total of 18 active members, all of which are volunteer. All firemen are minimum certified in FireFighter One training. Of these firemen, six are Hazardous Materials Technicians, two Paramedics, four Emergency Medical Technicians, and two First Responders. We have two fire stations, one located at 106 East Kyle Street in downtown Rogersville, TN. Our second and newest station is located at the West End of town in the Rogersville Industrial Park. Our department has a "6" rating with the Department of Commerce and Insurance. It is the goal of each and every fireman to serve and protect our town and it's citizens.
