Clark, the county seat of Clark County, South Dakota, is located in eastern South Dakota on US Highway 212 about 30 minutes from Watertown, SD.

It had a population of about 1,100 in July 2007, a 14% drop from the 2000 census.

The town was incorporated on March 22, 1886, and is made up of German, Norwegian, Irish, and Swedish ancestries.

The local American Legion post, Post 60, was named for two WWI veterans, Cagley and Smith, and is located on Main Street in Clark, South Dakota.

The post is very active and has a very active Auxiliary Unit. Its goal for 2009 was 110 and as of May 8, it had a membership of 109.

Post 60 supports American Legion Boys State and holds many local patriotic events during the year.
