Located on the South side of Miner County, South Dakota, the Canova American Legion is an active posts with an active Auxiliary.
Its 2009 goal was 52 and currently has a membership of 44.
Canova, SD is located in the southeastern part of South Dakota. With a population of approximately 150 people, Canova is a friendly town with neighborly attitude. Residents are extremely proud of their amateur baseball team, a perennial power in South Dakota's Amateur Baseball. Residents have also banded together to form their own community recreation facility out of the old Canova school building. This facility is complete with a fitness center, gymnasium, aerobics room, child care center, and miniature golf course.
The community is currently working to beautify its park area with playground equipment, camping pads, and concessions area.
In 2002, Canova became the second municipality in South Dakota to own and operate a wind turbine. Energy from this turbine is currently sold to Xcel Energy.
