?Assateaque Island National Seashore Park has two entrances, the north entrance described here, and the south entrance is at the end of Route 175, two miles from Chincoteague, Virginia. Coordinates were taken at the National Park Visitors Center which is near the park entrance. Leaving the visitors center the Verrazano Bridge crosses the Sinepuxent Bay entering the Assateaque National Seashore Park.
Assateaque Island National Seashore Park is a barrier island situated on the Maryland/Virginia borders. The barrier island is 37 miles in length and consists of 39,727 acres.
Activities include camping, hiking, swimming, boating, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, clamming, crabbing, hunting and off-road vehicle use. Wild ponies and deer can also be seen roaming the national park.
