Located in the back of Standing Rock Cemetery, in Kent, Ohio. This cemetery was originally located near the corner of Rhodes Road and Rt. 59 in Kent, near Breakneck Creek. It was also known as Shirtliff Cemetery at one time. All graves and stones were moved to Standing Rock Cemetery. The first burial was in 1839; last burial in 1916. The cemetery was located on a hill abt 300 yrds from Rte. 59 and & a little west of Rhodes Rd. in Franklin Twp. The remains were reintered in Standing Rock Cemetery in 1970 because the land was sold to K-Mart, where a K-Mart store was ultimately built very close to the original cemetery. [part of the old cemetery is now paved over & the garden center of this K-Mart store sits on part of the land.]
