This caboose looks like it has a few years on it. It's one of many at this great museum in the Sierra in northern California.
The Western Pacific Railroad Museum is located in Portola, California, off of Highway 70 in the northern Sierra Mountains. It's a little off the beaten track for most tourists (about 50 miles north of Reno), but the attractions are terrific. Over a hundred rail cars, engines, and cabooses can be found in the yard, and for a fee you can pilot a diesel train! (Reservations required.) The Museum is open 7 days a week 10am - 5pm The first Saturday in April through the first Sunday in November. Admission was only 5$ for adults and $2 for children. For more information on the museum see the museum website.
