The Hood River Hotel was built in 1912 as an annex to the original wooden hotel Mount Hood Hotel which stood to the north. The first floor housed commercial businesses and the second story had apartments and additional hotel rooms. In 1925, the owners moved the hotel lobby to the Annex so it fronted on Oak Street, the main route for motorists touring the Mt. Hood Loop and the Columbia River highways. The building fell on hard times and became a board house and appartemtns and then closing for several years. The hotel was restored in 1989, the hotel was listed in the National Reister of Historic Places in 1994
