Hershey-2 (HERSHEY) - Pennsylvania Historical Markers on Waymarking.com

The marker stands in front of the world's largest chocolate factory. In 1903, Milton S. Hershey broke ground for his factory in the countryside near his birthplace. He wanted to create a town where people could work, live, and play. While no longer a model industrial town, Hershey remains a vibrant community and noted tourist destination. Across the street from the marker is the Community Building, which contains the Hershey Theater. Touring Broadway shows and local groups still perform in the Theater. Just to the west is the famous Chocolate and Cocoa Avenues intersection. The famous Hershey KISS lampposts can be seen beyond the marker. Hersheypark is one block to the north.
