This old gaol stands in the middle of the town of Buckingham.

The gaol was built in 1748 in the style of a stone castle. Later additions by the local architect George Gilbert Scott were made in 1839. Today the gaol tells the story of Buckingham and rural life in the fascinating museum, including the new Flora Thompson room. A number of the original cells still remain.

Hours: The Museum and the Tourist Information Centre are open Monday - Saturday 10am - 4pm all year round. Please telephone for Sunday opening hours. Last admission is half an hour before closing.
Fees?: Museum entry: £3.00 adults, £1.50 children, under fives free. Special family ticket - £7.50 (2 adults/2 children).
