These gilded fish sit on top of The Chinese House in Stowe Landscape Gardens.

The house was built about 1738 and originally stood in the water on stilts. It was removed in 1746 and taken to Wotton where it remained until the 1950s. It was returned to Stowe in 1992 by the National Trust.

Pictures by Francesco Sleter decorate the exterior of the house and it is probably the earliest Chinese house in England.

The fish are highly detailed with high quality fins.
