This IHM can be found in Gosport in a small roadside park at SR 67 and 7th Street. The full text of the marker reads:
"Civil War training camp for the 59th Indiana Volunteer Infantry in 1861-62 was located one-half mile southwest of Gosport on White River. Named for former Indiana Congressman James Hughes."
The marker was placed by the Indiana Civil War Centennial Commission in 1963.
