The Minneapolis City Hall and Hennepin County Courthouse is jointly owned by the City and the County. It was built in 1891. Its two center towers and the four corners are all capped by pyramids.

The Minneapolis Building Commission web site (

Some highlights include the placing of the cornerstone on July 16, 1891, the placing of the last piece of granite which weighed three tons on October 26, 1895, the Minneapolis Journal newspaper reported that visitors were wearing down the big toe of the Father of Waters on October 28, 1908.
