Ron's Ice Cream is a pair of ice cream stores located in Hyde Park (Boston) and Dedham, MA. This waymark is for the second store located in downtown Dedham at the intersection of High Street and Eastern Avenue.
According to their web site, Ron Covitz had a bowling alley since 1976 in Hyde Park and had been serving soft-serve ice cream. In the early 1980s, there was a mix up in the soft-serve ingredients that caused the Vice President of Hood to come to the place. After the VP stated that there was a future in hard ice cream, Ron started to make home-made ice cream and sold it. Today, the bowling alley still is open, and the counter sells ice cream to both bowling patrons and people who come in from the street. Later, a store was opened in Dedham (no bowling alley, though).
The store in Dedham is similar to other icream parlors. It is a narrow store with the counter running most of the length of the store area. Ron's has plenty of flavors to choose from. You can have ice cream on a cone or cup by itself, in a sundae, in a frappe or freeze, or in another form.
