The Southern Region remains to this day as the largest of four regions in the Boy Scouts of America. The regional office supports councils in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana,Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennesee, Texas, and Virginia. Changes in council alignment have reduced the number of councils to 93. Those councils, 14 years later, on June 30, 2006, served 1,131,752 youth members.
