Broad Street United Methodist Church is one of the four red brick churches specifically mentioned in the 1973 NRHP district application. (See snippet in the gallery for actual image of reference.) From the church website, we learn that Broad Street UMC favored the South during the Civil War, while First Methodist favored the North. The two divisions were reunited in 1969.
