This directional / mileage sign points the way to the North Pole and the South Pole. (Neither are close by.) You'll find this little guy in the FastPass area in the Norway pavilion for the ride Maelstrom.
Historic significance:
Just a cute little statue and sign to add to the decor of this pavilion.

Location nearest to where you live now:
The North Pole would be the closer of the two to my house. Not that I'll be visiting either anytime soon.
