The Texas Civil War Museum maintains the most comprehensive collection of artifacts west of the Mississippi River. While TCWM is best known for its military collections, it also holds significant collections of domestic objects and decorative flags, personal furniture and artifacts, and postwar Victorian attire. The Texas Civil War Museum is a rare partnership in that it contains private collections and a collection in public trust. Object collections total approximately 3,000 items. Among these are:
The United Daughters of the Confederacy, Texas Confederate Collection: This 100 year old collection contains articles from the home front and its emphasis is the Texas soldier. It also has the largest collection of Texas regimental flags in the state. There are over 60 flags that rotate on exhibit throughout the year.
The Judy Richey Victorian Dress Collection: This private collection is an expansive look at original women's and children's clothing from the Victorian Era. With over 200 victorian dresses and accessories, the museum exhibits up to 50 at a time on a rotating exhibit.
