This is a living wooden sculpture of a monk located in public gardens, The Vines, in Rochester in Kent. It was created by Robert Koenig following the storms in southern England in 1987.
It is intended to represent the park's past and to commemerate the destruction created by those storms.
The plaque states that the sculpture is expected to fade but that it will be repaced for perpituity.
