A typical sit-by-me statue in Budapest. You can find it in a very nice park at the Hungarian National Theatre. This is a statue of a famous Hungarian actress Hilda Gobbi (1913–1988).
She was a many-sided actress, with an ability of strong caricature, working with deep inner portrayal. Graduating from the Actors’ Academy she contracted the National Theatre in 1935. In 1960–70 she was member of the Attila József Theatre, in 1971–82 the National Theatre, and from 1982 until her death member of the József Katona Theatre. Beside acting she has done an outstanding social activity, including the foundation of retired actors’ asylums, and the Actors’ Museum. Her major roles were, St. Joan, Karnyóné, Mirigy (Csongor and Tünde), Aase, Rizi (Pisti in the Bloodbath), Old Woman (Chicken-head).
