This garden was designed in 1928 by the California Spring Blossom and Wildflower Association, and the bench certainly dates from that era. It is not as ornate as the carved benches of some grand European estates; it's charming. The motif on the seat back has been smoothed by decades of use. Vines carved on the arms are not as worn down.
