This is a metal disc: EBMUD Triangulation Station Range 1949. It is located on EBMUD watershed property near Castro Valley, California. To begin your hike to this benchmark, start at the Chabot Staging Area on Redwood Road near Castro Valley. Inexpensive EBMUD Trail Use Permit required, but obtainable on line or at various EBMUD locations. Check the EBMUD website. Start on the Ramage Peak Trail. At the fork, go east up the Bay Area Ridge Trail. It is a steep long climb to Dinosaur Peak, so named because of the rock formations. The benchmark is in concrete closer to the larger rocks.
There is a metal pole about five feet away. Beautiful view including CSU East Bay, Coyote Hills, San Francisco and the Bay.
