The history of Masons in San Mateo dates back to 1872. In the early 1900's they began the process of raising money to build this temple, and the cornerstone was laid in either 1909 or 1910 (the cornerstone itself says 1909, lodge history says February 22, 1910).
Meetings are held here the first Thursday of the month.
