This cemetery dates back to the early 1880s. One gentleman purchased it for $10 and a bottle of whiskey. He then turned around and sold it to Animas City for $10, and kept the whiskey! Animas City is no longer there, as Durango has replaced it...but this cemetery lives on as a reminder of those olden days. There are about 60 graves and 20 markers.
