In the early 19th century the Wilson family rebuilt the whole village. Worton House was rebuilt at the same time as the Rectory in 1816 replacing the original manor house on its ancient site. With this vast rebuilding work the Wilsons made Over Worton a centre for evangelical Anglicanism. Throughout this time the house was mainly leased.
