"At 8. from the junction with US 160 is a 200-foot pinnacle of hard stone (200 yds. L) that has survived erosion, and atop it is BALANCED ROCK, a 50-foot block of even harder stone, its edges extending precariously past its base...Near by, on a 250-foot pinnacle, EAGLE ROCK surveys the business with aquiline unconcern."
*** Utah. A Guide to the State, 1941
This formation is yet another balanced rock, just watching an waiting like a stone predator. Though it is called Eagle Rock in the guide, modern maps and guides list it as Owl Rock. I initially thought it looked like an eagle when I first saw it.
