The New Jewish Cemetery was founded in 1890 (5650) and is today a preserved historical monument. It is the only functioning Jewish cemetery in Prague where funerals of Jewish departed ones are still held.

The cemetery plot occupies more than 10 hectares. There are about 25,000 graves.

Ceremonial hall with dignified oratory, house cleanup for burial ceremonies, building administrative and helpful also stalk around cemetery were to be built in then sceptred architecture - in New Renaissance. Ceremonial hall designed architect Bedrich Münzberger.

To most interesting sites belongs to grave writer Franz Kafka and his parents. His author is architect L. Ehrmann. Opposite in walls has memorial plaque Kafkas friend and significant promoter his works Max Brod, which be buried in Israel. Rest in peace here also e.g . writer Ota Pavel, in urn grove e.g . poet Jirí Orten.
