DNF five and so years ago, but back in the area so decided to make another attempt from memory. The benchmark monument is easily seen on the other side of a wire fence behind the TVA witness post. Property owner allowed me to walk up the lane and enter through the gate to take the close up photo.
Description: NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1961 6.9 MI SW FROM BLOUNTVILLE. FROM THE POST OFFICE IN BLOUNTVILLE, GO 3.8 MILES WEST ON U.S. HIGHWAY 11W TO THE Y JUNCTION OF A PAVED ROAD LEADING WEST, TURN LEFT, WEST, AND GO 0.4 MILE TO A Y JUNCTION, TURN LEFT AND GO 2.2 MILES SOUTHWEST ON A PAVED ROAD TO A T JUNCTION, THEN TURN RIGHT AND GO 0.5 MILE NORTHWEST ON A GRAVELED ROAD. THE BENCH MARK IS ABOUT 100 YARDS SOUTH OF A Y JUNCTION, ABOUT 120 FT. NORTHEAST OF A BRICK HOUSE, 34 FT. WEST OF THE CENTER OF A GRAVELED ROAD, 15 FT. SOUTHEAST OF THE CENTER OF PRIVATE DRIVE LEADING TO THE BRICK HOUSE, 3.2 FT. NORTHEAST OF A FENCE, AND 2 FT. NORTHEAST OF A WITNESS SIGN. THE DISK IS SET IN TOP OF A CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 5 INCHES AND IS ABOUT 2 FT. ABOVE THE LEVEL OF THE ROAD.
Current description would say from I-81 Exit 63, take Airport Parkway north which turns into Browder Road. Continue through stop sign and take right onto Lynn Drive (following the winery signs). The witness sign can be seen on the right at the gravel driveway on the wire fence. Actual monument is on the other side of the fence in a concrete post.
