According to the National Register of Historic Places application (secondary link listed below; .PDF file), the 2-story, red brick Fairbury City Hall was constructed in 1892 at the cost of $24,060. The 4-face clock tower was not added until 1912.

As an important site to Fairbury's history, the Fairbury City Hall building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.
