St. Paul's Episcopal Church has been an organized church since 1838. Their first services were held at the Court House, but after several weeks the congregation was met by the sheriff with weapons. After that, they held worship at a former school building that is now gone. The current stone church was built in 1899, and the first service held there was on Easter Sunday, April 2, 1899.
