This three-story tall mural is at the end of the façade of the California NanoSystems Lab, which faces the entrance gate to UCSB.
According to one of the designers:
"For the mural, we were charged with designing something very-much-like-but-not-litigiously-like a Kandinsky painting -- something which broke from the rhythm of colored stripes marching across the rest of the façade to burst with color and energy and motion."
According to some sources, the mural was originally conceived to be composed or enhanced with groundbreaking LEDs, but the final design is a relatively-normal flat paint work.
