This historic building is the third building occupied by St Paul's Episcopal Church, established in 1836.
The cornerstone was laid in 1892 and the building was consecrated in 1894. Arthur Loomis, of Louisville, was the architect who designed and supervised construction of the building. Most of the workmen and finances came from the Howard Steamboat Works, in 1937 the flood waters reached 19.8 feet in the nave. A fire in 1981 destroyed the sacristy and parish hall.
