On Friday June 13th, the Cedar River swelled out of it's banks and devastated the city of Cedar Rapids Iowa. Blocks and blocks were under water. The only way to get from the East side to the West side was by Interstate 380 which is elevated through the downtown area.
This High water mark is located at Mercy Hospital, on the corner of 8th Ave and 10th street. That's right 10 blocks from the Cedar River. Normally you can't even see the river from here, but at this time the river was about waist deep. Many volunteers pitched in and saved patients, and equipment.
Today the hospital is back up and running thanks to everyone who helped out.
