The Blue Note Theatre originally opened as the Varsity Theatre in 1927.
It reopened in 1991 as a night club called the Blue Note Theatre.
"This theater originally opened as the Varsity Theatre in 1927. It became part of the Commonwealth Theatre chain in 1955 and lasted thru 1960. When it reopened in February of 1967 is was known as the New Film Arts. The Film Arts closed after the summer on May 2, 1972 and never reopened as a motion picture theater.
Between 1972 and 1991 it was used for various functions, such as craft shows and antiques. In 1991 it reopened as a night club called the Blue Note Theatre. The theater has been kept in good shape by the operators but has never been a motion picture theater under its current operators."
